Welcome Brody Reid Friesen

Congrats to Russ and Rachel on the birth of their beautiful baby boy on December 26th. He was 6lbs 4oz and 19'' long.

Its over, yet its just beginning.

We survived another Christmas. And had so much fun. I'm always so surprised at how fast it goes by. You wait for it, and wait for it and wait for it to come, and then its gone before you can even blink.
Caden was so much fun this year. It makes a big difference to be a year and 7 months, instead of just 7 months at Christmas. He enjoyed helping everyone else open their presents, as well as his own. And boy did he get awesome new toys. Mostly tractors and trucks which he's big into. Not to mention a gator, from my parents. He doesn't know about that one yet. Its technically not meant for just him, but for all the grandchildren, but since NO ONE ELSE is having kids....ahem...its Cadens. Can't wait for summer to put it together and go cruisin. Now, I just have to lose some weight so I'm not over the 130lb weight restriction...lol.
I got most things that I asked for. And when I got home and unpacked it all, I realized that all of it stayed in the kitchen. Except for the brown coat. I got cutlery, a 4 slice toaster, a mixer, cookie sheets, a calendar, and some other smaller things. Oh and a rabbit hat, which I need to exchange for a smaller size. So excited to have warm ears this winter.
With 4 gatherings down, and only 1 to go (on New years day) I'm feeling a little less overwhelmed. Oh wait, did I mention that tomorrow I'm going to the city to hopefully get my passport so that in a few weeks Rob and I can go away on a holiday. Oh and when we get back, I have to start working 3 days a week because the other woman at work is on holidays for 6 weeks. And on top of that, my parents are gone for 2 weeks during that time as well, which means its only me in the office at work....ahhhh. When will it end. I hope February is a little less stressful month.

Merry Christmas

Although I don't have a lot of time, I just had to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. We are spending the day at my in laws today and Rob, Caden and Papa left to do some shopping. That leaves me with some free time.
We'll open presents later this afternoon when Robs sister Marcy gets here with her hubby and 4 boys.
Then tonight, off to my parents for night, where we'll open presents tomorrow morning and basically spend the day in our p.j.s, eating, playing games and enjoying new toys and presents.
I do love Christmas.

Its darker

I finally succeeded in getting my hair to be a darker color. I guess I’m always a little scared, so I buy dye’s that are not too dark. Then after I do them, they don’t really look any different than the color I had before. Well, this time I bought a dark brown with no red in it at all. Here’s the before.

This is the color that my gloves turned while I was applying the color, and the water ran this color too, when I was rinsing. I was a little concerned I’d have purple hair.
And the after

Christmas cards

Well, now that I’m sure all these people have handed out all their cards, I thought I’d post for you, all the cards I made for Christmas this year. I had so much fun designing them. I’m kinda disappointed that I have to wait another whole year to do them again.Oh well. I hope you like em.

Happy birthday to me

Well, like every other year, I was sadly disappointed on my birthday. For some reason, I always let myself get excited that maybe, just maybe Rob will have planned something.
This year was no different. I was home for the day, which means that I usually stay in my ‘comfy’ clothes all day with no makeup and hair a mess. But, because I was hoping that Rob would come home, say he had a sitter coming, and we would be going out for supper and to a movie, I got ready. 5:20 comes around and Rob calls. ‘Should I pick something up for supper?’. Well, instantly I knew that he had once again planned nothing. And naturally, I was instantly upset. He asked what was wrong, and I told him I was mad that yet again, he had planned jack $#%* for my birthday. Then I hung up on him.
I ended up calling him at 6:10 because he still wasn’t home and Caden was getting hungry. He hadn’t even left work yet. I told him to forget about supper cause I had to feed Caden something now.
When he finally did get home, we of course had a fight about why he doesn’t plan anything for my birthday.
He did get a few points because he bought me a pedicure for my birthday. Well, I ended up sitting on the couch all evening watching t.v. Some birthday. I should have just gone to girls night and sat in the hot tub with my friends.
I’ve already told all my friends that next year on my birthday, we’ll be having a party. I have several years of crappy birthdays to make up for.

Ahh, Christmas is almost here. The tree is up. I've added lights to different areas of our house, and I even did some Christmas baking today. I'm ready for it. I just need to buy a couple more gifts, which will be easy cause I know what they will be. Oh I'm so excited. And because I'm so crazy busy in the next 2 weeks, its gonna be here before I know it.
We just finished catering another Christmas banquet tonight. Only 2 more functions to go. The last being on Dec. 20th. This Friday is my work banquet. I'm looking forward to that. D.J.s caters, so my mom and I get the night off.
I'm finally finished all Christmas cards for this year. Unless someone else asks for them. I do have a couple of really nice designs that would be great for someones cards. I'm not quite done handing out my cards yet either.
Next week Wednesday is my birthday, so of course I'm hoping Rob will plan something. Although I know its not gonna happen. If only he would take hints.
Next Sunday (21st) we have Christmas at my Grandpas. 22nd is my brother Ricks birthday so we'll be heading over to their house for the evening. The 23rd we leave for Emerson where we stay for night and do Christmas with Robs family on the 24th. Then back to Winkler to my parents for Christmas day. Whew, its gonna be a crazy couple of weeks.

For Sale

Piano works good, just needs to be tuned. I don't ever use it and it just takes up space in my entrance. One day I want to have a piano in my living room. Once I have a new house and a little more room.
Dishes set. Used once. Got some of it as a wedding present. Bought the rest myself. Not my style. Used it once when the person who bought it for me came over for supper:-)
If you're interested in either of these things, let me know. I really wanna get rid of both of them.

Whats so good about black Friday??

What an amazing weekend. I have amazing friends. We had so much fun.
However, black Friday shopping left something to be desired. We did only get there around 11am. But the sales were no different than any other day. The only difference was that the line up wrapped half way around the store. I suppose the sales would have been better had we been there at 4am when the stores opened. But, because I was only looking for clothes and small items, the deals were not superb.
But, wow did we shop. We all came home with more than our limit. Our hotel was great. The food was amazing. If you get the chance, eat at TGI Fridays and Texas roadhouse. So super good.
I am almost done Christmas shopping now also. Feels so good. Only about 3 more items to pick up. Now i'm excited for Christmas

I am excited

Friday morning, at 7am, I will have 5 tired girls coming to my house, so that we can pack up and start our journey to Fargo. I can hardly wait. The 7am part isn't the greatest, but hey, we gotta get some shopping done since it is Black Friday.
Every year, my friends and I head out to the states for a weekend as kind of our Christmas party. (We also go camping for a weekend in summer). These are the same girls that I get together with every Wednesday night. You'll hear me refer to them as Girls night girls. There are 10 of us in total, although only the 6 of us are going this weekend.
I am so excited to do some shopping for myself. I've been saving catering money so I don't even have to feel bad. Caden also needs a few things, and I want to get a good start, if not finish my Christmas shopping.
Somewhere in there I'd also like to spend some time at the hotel, relaxing. I look forward to sleeping in and not having to make anyone breakfast in the morning or change anyones diaper. Its gonna be a great weekend.

This weekend

Not much time to blog today. Got a busy day. Workin this morning at PVC. Catering a function at lunch. Then getting ready to cater a Christmas banquet this evening.
Tomorrow, hopefully working on Cadens 18 month card since I now have the pics, as well as 2 more Christmas cards I have to get done. Might put up my Christmas tree.
Sunday, our very first Christmas gathering. My Dads extended family. Maybe that'll get me into the Christmas spirit.
Have a good weekend.

Mmm, Mmm good!

This was supper today. A new recipe. Delicious.

Finally, I did it!

For me, its just one of those things that I put off and put off, until I absolutely need to do it. Then, while I’m doing it, I realize it’s really not that bad. I mean, I don’t want to do it every week, but it’s not the worst job in the world. What am I talking about? Cleaning the fridge. I threw out quite a bit of food. Now I can actually see some shelf space in the fridge. It was so full I couldn’t fit anything more in there. How can a fridge get so full? I mean really, we are 3 people. But I guess between all the condiments, 2 4L jugs of milk, salad dressings, and sauces that fill up the door, and left over food, fruit and veggies, cheese, margarine and eggs in the main area, it’s pretty covered. Not to mention that my bottom drawer, which should be space for fruit/veggies, is always filled with pop and beer. We really need another fridge for drinks. I did just recently put Caden on 1% milk instead of 2% milk, so that takes care of a whole jug of milk. That’s more space than you think. Anyway, I’m pretty sure I don’t do it as often as I should. How often do you clean your fridge??

Keep your clothes on

Ok, whoever decided that when someone gets married, all their friends should take them out for one last ‘hoorah’ before the big day. I don’t get it. Rob was invited to go to a bachelor party for one of his buddies whose getting married in 2 weeks. With strippers. Really??? Is it necessary to see naked women before you get married? Why? Well, Rob didn’t go. He was going to, when the original plan was to go for supper, get a hotel room, see a movie and go see strippers at Teasers. While the rest of the guys were going to Teasers, Rob was gonna stay at the hotel room. Well, then the plan changed to just supper and then Teasers. Rob decided not to go. I was so happy he made this decision on his own. I mean really, had he decided that he was going, I would have intervened and said no way, absolutely not. But I didn’t have to. So great.
I much prefer the way girls to bachelorette parties. At least the way me and my friends do them. We take said bachelorette, dress her up in crazy outfits, with crazy makeup, and drive around town. The bachelorette is required to do things. Examples of these things are; get pickles from McDonalds, buy banana’s from the superstore, rent a movie from Video Stop, or in 1 case, ride a scooter down main street in Winkler. Now, doesn’t that sound like more fun than seeing naked girls? I sure think so.

Potty training, Doctors, Words

Based on the last few days, I really wish Caden was potty trained. I don’t know if he’s getting his 2 year molars, or just has a little bug, but his diapers have been….full. Not to mention what comes out of the diaper onto his clothes and body. I’ve washed his bedding twice, as well as several loads of laundry and he’s had many baths/showers. Ewwww!!!
Obviously I’m not really going to potty train him yet, although I have to say, I am looking forward to it. I’m sure I’ll change my mind on that when I am actually doing it, but we’ll see. It seems crazy that its so close to that time. I hope to have him trained before he’s 2. To me, that’s just the age when kids are supposed to be trained by. I guess because when I was younger and babysitting, the kids were always trained by 2. Besides, who wants to keep changing diapers if you don’t have to.
On Wednesday we went for Cadens 18 month appointment. I never really see the point of these appointments. I only go because I want to know how heavy and tall he is. I suppose its important to go, but the doctor barely looks at him for more than a minute. It seems that she wouldn’t even notice if anything was wrong. Oh well. Anyway, Caden is 30 lbs, and 29 ½’’ tall.
New words for Caden: Socks, Cheese, No, Blocks. This brings us up to about 30 words. So exciting. His newest thing is to say Mom, all the time. It was cute at first, but now its getting annoying. And the worst thing is, he usually doesn’t say I cause he wants something, he says it just to get me to say ‘what’. Crazy kid.

New babysitter

I've changed Cadens baby sitter once again. Poor guy. I just couldn't take the crying anymore. It was so hard for me to leave him there, although I knew that he stopped crying as soon as I left.
So, I asked Joder if she would be interested in taking Caden. She agreed right away. Now when I drop him off, he doesn't even care that I'm leaving. He's already too busy playing with toys. He's comfortable there, because we spend time there. Its a good change for both of us. Thanks Joder.

Only in the country

My neighbors have chickens, and they like to roam around on my yard. Gotta love country livin. At least as far as chickens go, these are nice, clean looking ones.

Quit hitting me.

I don’t know what to do anymore. My baby has started to hit. He has quite a temper, which we have been working with. He throws toys when he is mad. Lets just say he’s spent a lot of time in his time out chair. When he is done his time out, I always go into his room and talk to him about what he did and why he shouldn’t have done it. Lately, while I’m talking to him, he’ll hit me in the face. It makes me so mad. I obviously won’t spank him for that, cause it doesn’t really make sense to hit him, for hitting me. He just stays in his time out a little longer. Then when I do go back to get him, I make him say sorry to me, by hugging me. I sure hope this little phase ends soon. What makes a kid think he can hit his mommy. Boy, I gave birth to you.

Hairspray

Oh yeah, I went to see Hairspray on broadway. So amazing. We laughed so much. The actors did an incredible job.
But to start our day off, we went shopping. It was a very productive day for me. I got 2 bras, 7 shirts, a necklace and a pair of earrings. My goal was to find some shirts that are not just plain boring average shirts. I succeeded. I love them. I struggle every morning to find something to wear. Mostly to church and to work. Now I should be good for awhile. Well, at least until the end of the month when the girls and I go to Fargo for the weekend. Oh, and Caden got a winter jacket, and 4 pairs of jeans. (2 of which will go back) I do love shopping.

My little giraffe

Our first halloween dressing up. I bought Caden a little giraffe costume from wal mart. Boy was he ever cute. We went trick or treating to a few friends houses, and my parents. We did so good, walking up to the door with his little pail. I can't wait till next year when he'll be able to say 'Trick or Treat'

Its a Boy!!

Robs sister Marcy has 3 boys from her previous marriage. She is now re-married and together they wanted to have a baby. Marcy wanted to have a girl in the worst way. Can ya blame her. Well, Thursday morning I got the call. Marcy did it again. Another boy. Of course we are all still overjoyed at this precious gift. His name is Miles Pierce Buhler. He was 8 lbs, 4 oz and 20 ¾’’ long. On Saturday we went out to see them. Caden was in love with this baby. He literally would not stop hugging and kissing him. It was so cute.

My Celine

I got to experience the most amazing concert ever. I have loved Celine Dion since I was small. I have every one of her c.ds, (including some of the French ones). It has been my dream to see her. I would have loved to go see her inVegas, but it just didn’t happen.
Anyway, last Tuesday I saw her. First of all, her opening act was incredible. His name was Gordy Brown and he is a comedian. We just about peed ourselves laughing. And then Celine came on. I gotta admit, I got emotional. I was like a little girl seeing her idol. I was overwhelmed with the fact that I was so close to her. The concert was unbelievable. She really puts on a show, from the huge stage that rotated, to the amazing dancers. It was so, so good. What an incredible voice. She hit every note. I am so glad I finally got to see her.

New business

My husband has been wanting to start his own business for a long time. The plan was to build a shop on our yard this summer, and get things going. Well, we got approved for everything at the bank, got approved by the RM to put the shop on our yard, and decided what kind of shop we wanted to build.
The plans changed. Rob left his job at Load Line to go work at Framar in Winkler. We decided to go to the bank to get a line of credit for him to be able to buy cars. Not sure why we didn't do this years ago. We always waited to have money for him to buy a car. Now he can buy lots of cars when they become available, not have to find the money first.
So back to the business plan. His boss at Framar is letting him park his cars in the line up. This is great high way frontage. He has sold 5 vehicles in the last 5 weeks. He's currently looking for more to purchase.
He applied and was accepted for a bond, which will help him get his dealers permit. We have registered a business name. The business is TAC Auto Sales. TAC stands for Trucks, ATV's and Cars. The next step is to meet with the accountant to discuss tax options and all those fun things that I don't understand.
Its pretty exciting. This is something that Rob has wanted to do for a long time and I'm glad that its finally working. He's been working alot of evenings, and alot of Saturdays, but I guess thats what happens when you start something new. He only starts work at 9:00 in the morning, so at least Caden gets to spend some time with him in the morning.
Anyway, just thought I'd fill you all in on this new journey we are on at the moment. Hoping and Praying that this all works out.
Keep Rob in mind next time you're looking for a used vehicle.

Laugh out loud

I had to share this with you. Its an email I received. I just about peed myself laughing. Hope you enjoy!

Here are six reasons why you should think before you speak - the last one is great!
Have you ever spoken and wished that you could immediately take the words back... or that you could crawl into a hole? Here are the Testimonials of a few people who did....

FIRST TESTIMONY:
I walked into a hair salon with my husband and three kids in tow and asked loudly,
'How much do you charge for a shampoo and a blow job?'
I turned around and walked back out and never went back
My husband didn't say a word... he knew better.

SECOND TESTIMONY:
I was at the golf store comparing different kinds of golf balls.
I was unhappy with the women's type I had been using.
After browsing for several minutes, I was approached by one of the good-looking gentlemen who works at the store. He asked if he could help me.
Without thinking, I looked at him and said, 'I think I like playing with men 's balls .

THIRD TESTIMONY:
My sister and I were at the mall and passed by a store that sold a variety of candy and nuts. As we were looking at the display case, the boy behind the counter asked if we needed any help. I replied, 'No, I'm just looking at your nuts.'
My sister started to laugh hysterically. The boy grinned, and I turned beet-red and walked away. To this day, my sister has never let me forget.

FOURTH TESTIMONY :
While in line at the bank one afternoon, my toddler decided to release some pent-up energy and ran amok. I was finally able to grab hold of her after receiving looks of disgust and annoyance from other patrons. I told her that if she did not start behaving 'right now' she would be punished. To my horror, she looked me in the eye and said in a voice just as threatening,
'If you don't let me go right now, I will tell Grandma that I saw you kissing Daddy's pee-pee last night!' The silence was deafening after this enlightening exchange. Even the tellers stopped what they were doing. I mustered up the last of my dignity and walked out of the bank with my daughter in tow. The last thing I heard when the door closed behind me, were screams of laughter.

FIFTH TESTIMONY:
Have you ever asked your child a question too many times?
My three-year-old son had a lot of problems with potty training and I was on him constantly.
One day we stopped at Taco Bell for a quick lunch, in between errands
It was very busy, with a full dining room. While enjoying my taco, I smelled something funny,
so of course I checked my seven-month-old daughter, she was clean. The realized that Danny
had not asked to go potty in a while. I asked him if he needed to go, and he said 'No' . I kept thinking 'Oh Lord, that child has had an accident, and I don't have any clothes with me.'
Then I said, 'Danny, are you SURE you didn't have an accident?'
'No,' he replied. I just KNEW that he must have had an accident, because the smell was getting worse. Soooooo, I asked one more time, 'Danny did you have an accident ?This time he jumped up, yanked down his pants, bent over, spread his cheeks and yelled
'SEE MOM, IT'S JUST FARTS!!'
While 30 people nearly choked to death on their tacos laughing, he calmly pulled up his pants and sat down. An old couple made me feel better, thanking me for the best laugh they'd ever had!

LAST BUT NOT LEAST TESTIMONY:
This had most of the state of Michigan laughing for 2 days and a very embarrassed female news anchor who will, in the future, likely think before she speaks.
What happens when you predict snow but don't get any!
We had a female news anchor that, the day after it was supposed to have snowed and didn't,
turned to the weatherman and asked:
'So Bob, where's that 8 inches you promised me last night?' Not only did HE have to leave the set, but half the crew did too they were laughing so hard!
Now, didn't that feel good?
So think before you speak!!!!!

SOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!

I am going to see CELINE DION!!! She has been my favorite singer for years. I was bummed that I couldn't go see her in vegas, but I'm really not in a position to pay $600 for a nosebleed seat at a concert. So, instead I am now going to see her in Winnipeg on Tuesday. You have no idea how unbelievably excited I am. If I could pick any famous person to meet, it'd be her. (Or Julia Roberts) I'm going with my mom and can hardly wait. I know all her songs, have all her c.ds and her DVD's of the vegas concert. Which of course I cry at every time I watch. I know, its sad, but I don't care.

Ideas please

I'm stuck. All you moms out there, I need ideas for what to make for lunches for myself and Caden. I'm tired of grilled cheese, macaroni and cheese and soup. I make a big meal for supper, so for lunch I don't want to. Yes, sometimes we have leftovers from supper the day before, but I usually send that along with Rob to work. What do you feed your kids for lunches?

Clean Sink

Finally, after living in our current house for over 3 years, I got my sink clean. Truthfully, I'd written it off. Didn't think there was any way to get it clean. I mean, its not like it was super dirty, it just had these 'spots' on it that no matter how much I scrubbed, they wouldn't come off. I'd wipe it, and while it was wet, it'd look clean. Then I'd walk by later and get mad. 'Who dirtied my sink'. Well, my mom told me to use SOS pads. What a wonder. Took off those pesky water stains, the little bit of rust and anything else that was stuck on. Its amazing what a difference that makes. Now, I'm gonna try it on our bath tub. I'll take before and after pics of that one to show you.

Comment on post

Nothing like a personal post to get people to comment on my blog. I'll try and comment on everyones comments.
The only meat I buy at super store is chicken breats (by the case) Co-op can't touch the price. I know cause my mom has checked for catering. Its almost double the price. I also buy sandwich meat, but we don't use alot, so it wouldn't pay for me to go elsewhere for it.
Sales at superstore. Doesn't really matter if it is on sale or not, its still gonna be cheaper than anywhere else in this town.
And I was strictly talking about the grocery store. I did buy my camera at the appliance store, and would absolutely go back there for anything else (to check prices anyway) as well as to Something Digital. I have nothing against either of those stores. When it comes to buying large items, like computers and appliances, you generally do alot of price checking everywhere anyway. All of our appliances came from Sears, because they had a better price. But we checked Co-op for everything. As for the equity. I was turned off of that when we bought our appliances. You can only use so much of it, depending on the price of the items you are buying. If the washing machine I'm buying is not expensive enough, I can only use a little bit of the equity. That did not impress me. If I have this money, let me use it however I want to use it.
Superstore just has everything and a large variety of everything. Clothing, diapers, crayons markers etc, plants...you get the idea. I do love wal mart as well, but not so much for the groceries. I go to browse every few weeks for kids clothes and shoes.
Hey, its all a personal opinion right? If you wanna shop there, and spend more money because Co-op gives back to the community, or because of the equity check, go ahead. I'd personally like to rather see that money in my bank account at the end of every month.
Thanks for your comments.

How can you afford to shop at Co op

We had our care group kick off a few days ago. One of the games was to guess the prices of grocery items. She had purchased them from Co op. I could not believe how expensive some of the items were. I based my guesses on what I pay at the superstore, with a small mark up, cause I know co op is expensive. But i was soooo out. A 4 pack of AAA batteries for 7.99. Superstore, 4.25. A box of kleenex for 2.29. Superstore, 1.29. A 2L of Pepsi, 1.89. Superstore, 1.39. You get the idea. I understand that if you shop on Tuesdays, you get 5% off. And yes, you use your coop # and get money back twice a year. But I know for a fact that it doesn't equal out. And who can only shop on a certain day of the week. I like to be as thrifty as I can when I shop. Yup, I look for coupons and use them where I can. And I'm sure if Coop is having a sale, some items could be close to or the same as the superstore. But really??? Its like throwing money away. I don't understand.
Anyway, sorry if I've offended, but this just got me going. I had to share.

Family pics

Here ya go, as promised. The family pics we took on a beautiful yard. We'll definitely be going back there for future pictures. I also got my parents and my Christmas card done. Feels good to have that accomplished, although since there is so much time yet before Christmas, I may make changes.

This and that

I realize my blog leaves something to be desired lately, and I'm sorry. I'm feeling boring. So, I'll play catch up again.

*Cadens learning all the time. New words-off, on, outside, inside, Tiff (my friend) spoon, socks, uh uh, and uh oh
*Been doing more canning. Made spaghetti sauce and tomato soup. Gonna do more tomorrow with the last batch of tomatoes
*Loving being at home with my baby. He is such a joy. I just enjoy him so much
*On the other hand, wow has he learnt how to throw tantrums. Throws himself on the ground, and bangs his head on the floor. Lets just say he's been spending a bit of time in his time out chair
*Took awesome family pics. Will post later
*I've become obsessive with designing cards. Birth announcements, kids cards, and lately, Christmas cards. If anyone wants a Christmas card made, please let me know. I'd love to do it for you.
****I have another pregnant friend. Sharlene. Due for Apr 4. I am soooo excited for her. 2 babies due within a week and a half. Wondering who's gonna announce next.
*Caden started at a new babysitters cause his other one is having a baby in a few days. Still feeling a little aprehensive about it, although I know it'll be ok.

Alright, thats all for now. I'll try and get better with posting. I work Tuesdays and Thursdays so those are generally my days to blog. I just need to find something to say. And ideas???

A van????

I know, I swore I would NEVER ever drive a van. Now I have one. And I love it. Rob bought a van yesterday. Well, obviously it makes more sense for me to drive that and him to drive my car. Of course its for sale. Any of you who know my husband know that we never own a vehicle more than 2 months. It'll be hard to go back to my car after this. Guess I'll have to enjoy it while it lasts.

Misc.

I'm feeling badly for not posting, yet I really have nothing good to post. Guess I'll just go through a few things.

~Cadens 3rd eye tooth came out. 1 more to go

~I made peach jam yesterday. Delicious

~Catering this saturday. Its been a while. It'll be nice to get back into that again. summer is always slower for that. Which is nice, but the extra money is nicer.

~I'm enjoying working. I have so much to do on the 2 days that I'm there that it goes by so fast. I'm debating working 3 days a week, once winter comes. Can't do anything outside then anyway. Although leaving Caden 2 days a week is enough I think. I miss him too much

~Hoping to go to Red Lobster one evening this weekend. Endless shrimp. Yummy.

~Going crazy making photo cards. I have about 30 made. Now I just need people's baby pics to fill them. Can't wait to do Cadens 18 month card, as well as Christmas cards.

Baby Baby Baby!!!

No, unfortunately not me. But Erin is having a baby. WOOT WOOT!!!!! I am so incredibly excited for her. She is due for March 23rd. She came over Saturday morning to tell me the news. Of course I cried, in between jumping up and down with excitement. Erin, I love you and I am so excited for you. Can't wait to meet this little baby.
Oh and Happy Birthday to Erin today as well.

5 years, come and gone ***updated for Joni**

Yesterday was our 5 year anniversary. I can hardly believe its been that long. I looked back at pics from our wedding day and I'd love to do it all over again. I'd change very little. It was such a fun day.
Hoping the next 5 years is even better, filled with even more kids ;-)

Happy Birthday Rob!!!

My husband turns 32 today. (Although he says he's turning 31). I know he won't read this, so I can say that we will be going go carting or bowling tonight depending on the weather. A bunch of our friends are joining us. Then back to our house for a fire, or just hanging out inside.
Looking forward to a great evening.

Eye teeth

There are 2 through. Woo Hoo. 2 more to go and then maybe the 4 poopy diapers a day will stop. I can only hope.

Question

Caden is learning to eat by himself, and with that comes a very stubborn boy who doesn't like me to feed him anymore.
My question is to all you mothers out there who have taught a child to eat by themselves. Caden often uses his hands in addition to the fork or spoon. Half the food gets moved off the plate onto the table, and then back into the plate.
Do you allow your children to play with their food while they learn to eat it? I haven't been allowing it, because I know that you don't play with your food. But I'm wondering if I should let him as he explores the newness of eating all by himself. Any advice?

Also, in following with what Stacey did a while ago, I want to know what you want to know. I'm feeling that my life is
a little boring to blog about, so please ask me questions, any questions, on anything that you'd like to know about me.
Can't wait to spill my guts.

Fun questions for married couples

I was reading a book called 'humor for a womans heart'. It is similar to a chicken soup book. There was this fun little quiz in it that had me laughing out loud as I read. I had to share it with you. Well, the good ones anyway. Hope you enjoy.
1. The recreational activity you most often do together is:
A. Bicycling B. Bowling C. Hunting for his car keys.

2. True or false: A vacuum cleaner makes an excellent anniversary gift.
True! Provided you want it to be your last anniversary.

3. (Husband question) When your wife says, "Let's not get each other Christmas presents this year," it indicates:
A. Her desire to share with the less fortunate

B. Her thoughtful and realistic interest in the household budget
C. A test to see it you "love her enough" to forget the suggestion and "surprise" her with something you'll be paying off until Easter.

4. Before answering the question "How do you like my new hairstyle?" what should a husband always remember?
A. His wife's feelings are the most important thing.
B. She may have spent hours in the salon to get it to look that way
C. The couch is lumpy, and when you sleep on it a spring pokes you in the back.

5. When the both of you attend church together, it is best for the husband to wear:
A. A dark suit B. A tuxedo C. Whatever his wife picks out.

6. When the waiter asks what you'd like for desert, a wife's most common response is:
A. Chocolate mousse, please. B. I'll try the cheesecake. C. Oh, nothing for me, I'll just have a teensie bite of his.

7. Your spouse is snoring. You should:
A. Accept it as a minor flaw in an otherwise perfect mate. B. Gently nudge him and say, "Roll over, dear."

A. Whites in hot. B. Colors in cold. C. Pens, pencils, keys, tissues, etc in pockets.

10. A husband offers to run to the store for a quart of milk. He is most likely to return with:
A. A quart of milk

B. Two steaks, a big fish, a bottle of ketchup, 2 bottles of pot, a box of donuts
a TV dinner, some cheese, the lattest issue of TV Guide, and a can of motor oil
C. A dazed expression and the question, "What was I supposed to get?"

11. (Husband question) To prove your love for your wife, you would gladly:
A. Climb the highest mountain B. Swim the deepest ocean.
C. Hold her purse while she tries things on at the mall and run the risk that, at any moment, one of the guys might walk by.

Happy Birthday Mom!!!

This beautiful woman is 43 today. She's my mom, but she's also my friend. I never would have dreamed that we'd grow to be so close. Mom, thanks for being there for me always. I love you!

Where have I been???

Well, we no longer have internet at home. We are seriously debating getting rid of our house phone as well. We both have cell phones, so to pay an extra $35 a month seems silly. Now I only have internet when I go to work, which is 2 days a week, or when I go to my parents house. Although I miss having it at home, it has forced me to do other things. I realized that I spent way too much time on the internet. I can use Cadens nap times in a much more productive way. And although I really miss reading all the blogs that I've become attached' to, its kind of nice to only get to check them twice a week. It seems that then everyone has written something new. So please forgive me if I don't comment on your blogs. I still read them, and will try
to comment still. But with only 2-10 minute coffee breaks to do all my reading, it may not get done. Thanks for stickin by me even though there has been nothing good to read for a while. Hopefully I caught up on everything new.

In my red high heels

It’s a favorite thing. To play with my shoes. Any of them. He'll either bring them to me to put on, or put them on himself. And surprisingly, he usually puts them on the right foot too. Little smarty pants.

New this week

Well, he is learning to use a fork and a spoon to feed himself. Of course, this is what he usually looks like
when he's done, but he's gotta learn somehow right.

He has learnt to build his own tower with blocks. We've gone as high as 6.

Fitting in with Cadens new favorite thing, his new word is shoes, which he either says as booze or pooze
He also says yes. Glad that word came before no.

Some favorites

I just love these pics. Hope you will too.

I'll be back

Sorry guys, I no longer have internet at home. I'll try and post something on the weekend.

Its through

Molar #4 came through yesterday. Finally. Now he's workin on the eye teeth. Oh Joy!!!

I see....

So today I took Caden to his very first eye appointment in Morden. He did so well. He let the doctor do everything that he needed to do. Now for the question ‘why do I take him to the eye doctor at 15 months? Let me explain.

Rob has some pretty serious eye problems. He was born blind, and was blind for the first 3 years of his life. He then got his sight. However, with problems. He has cataracs, astigmatism, and amblyopia. His eyes are constantly moving back and forth. He only got his drivers when he was 23 years old because until then, he wasn't able to see well enough to drive. The drivers came with a hitch though. He had to go back every year and get tested, to make sure he was able to keep his drivers. See, they told him when he was young, that by the time he was 25, he would likely be blind again. Good news is, after 8 years of getting tested every year, they sent a letter saying he no longer has to get tested. What a relief. Not only cause it means Rob's eyes have stabalized, but the testing costs $150.00 every time. So Caden was not supposed to get any of these problems, cause they are carried through girls. (which means if we have a girl, she'll carry it to her sons) But I just figured better to check it now and be able to fix it if something is wrong.

Secondly, my Dad is color blind, and so was my great Grandpa. Color blindness is carried through girls so therefore, I carry it on to my boys. Bring in Caden. Most likely he will have some form of color blindness. My Great Grandpa could only see in black and white. My Dad isn't nearly that bad. He mixes up certain shades of brown and green. Yellow and brown. Etc. you get the idea. So hopefully if Caden is color blind, its only very minor.

So, because of all this, I took Caden to get his eyes tested. Obviously they can't test for the color blindness; they say that can only happen around grade 1. But after the test, they said his eyes are perfectly normal. Exactly where he should be. He is slightly far sighted, but the doctor said that was ideal. Whatever that means.

Anyway, thats the reason we went today.

A husbandless weekend!

I gotta admit, I am so excited for this weekend. Rob is gone from Friday till Monday on a fishing trip with my Dad, brother and Grandpa. This means that I can clean the house tomorrow, and its gonna stay that way until Monday. Thats the best part. I can also put the sheet on the bed, and its gonna stay on till Monday. Hmm, sounds great.
Don't get me wrong. I love my hubby. But sometimes its nice to have the house to myself. And I do have some good plans for the weekend.
Tomorrow Caden has an eye doctor appointment. (If you're wondering why I'd take my 15 month old child to the eye doctor, check back tomorrow for that post). Then if I can fix my vacuum cleaner, I'm gonna clean the house. I do have to go in to work for a few hours tomorrow afternoon as well. I plan on renting a bunch of movies, and spend the evening on the couch, with my homemade fresh salsa and chips and pepsi. I get to rent the girliest chick flicks I can find...Woo Hoo!!!
Saturday of course, is the Morden Corn and Apple parade. Hoping it'll be better than Winklers parade, although it really doesn't take much. I'm going with Tiff, so that'll be great fun.
In the afternoon, I'm getting together with my friend Jen and her son Andrew. Its always a great time getting together with them and as our sons get older, they learn to play together even better. They are only 4 weeks apart.
In the evening, is the annual Corn and Apple fire at Tiff and Garns house. I haven't been to or had a fire in awhile.
Sunday is the norm. Church in the morning and then hopefully a nap in the afternoon...lol. In the evening, my mom is comin over for a movie night. More chick flicks!!! YEAH!!!
Should be a great weekend!

Its funny

Okay, so following what Kalle did on her last post, I thought I'd add a joke as well.

A Saskatchewan woman was pulled over by the RCMP. When the officer came to her window she said,
'Hello officer, I bet you're here to sell me tickets to the Saskatchewan RCMP ball, right?!'.
The RCMP leans over and says, 'Lady, the Saskatchewan RCMP don't have balls'.

The search is over

I found a replacement babysitter for Caden. I feel so relieved now. Not that it was really a panic, but I just feel better to have found someone. Thank you to Jen who gave me her name and number. Susan lives on my way to work. I could literally chuck Caden out my car and into her backyard. She's is $10 cheaper than the sitter he goes to now, and she is going to provide lunch for him, which I now have to bring along. She also has a little girl who is 1 1/2 months older than Caden. Perfect. I just hope it all works out well. We've made plans to get together one afternoon next month, just so we can meet, and Caden can be at her house with me for a while. It'll be nice that its on my way to work, and I'll be saving $20 a week. That's quite a bit. I'm praying that he will like it at her house as much as he likes it at Teresas house.

I see you lurking

Well, a few weeks ago I asked for people to comment to let me know they are reading. Thank you to those who did. Lately I've been noticing via my feedjit, that I have readers in Toronto, Winnipeg, Arborg, even in Pennsylvania. I'd really like to know who you are. Please de-lurk yourselves. Really, I love finding new blogs to read. Maybe yours could be one of them. :-)

...because I'm cheap

I have never had professional pictures taken of Caden. My feelings are if I can take pictures myself, that I am happy with, why would I add the extra cost of someone else doing it. Plus, if I do it myself, I can do it when Caden is happy. I also make my picture cards myself. I was recently asked to do an 18 month card, and a birth announcement card for a girl in our church. She has her own ideas, so I'm gonna go over to her house to work something out. Well, her mentioning this got me in the card making mood. I've designed 8 cards in the last 2 days. Its really fun and I've come up with some really cool ones. I'm debating doing 15 month cards for Caden, although I likely won't cause I still really like his 1 year card. Yeah, maybe those people who get professionals to do their cards have better looking cards than me. But most likely you won't be able to tell the difference in a card I make, or one they make. Its where I'm able to use the little bit of creativity that I have.
With that said, if anyone needs cards made, let me know. I'd love to help you out.

Its ready

Oh i'm so excited. We ate fresh corn on the cob from the garden yesterday. I also picked 3 tomatoes, and dug up 9 potatoes from 1 plant. I love the time of year when everything is ready. Although my peas, spinach and lettuce are already done, these are the more exciting things. I can't wait to make fresh salsa with these tomatoes, and to can salsa once I have a few more. I love summer.

Private blogs

I don't get it. Isn't the purpose of a blog so people will read it? I get upset when I'm reading someones blog, and I want to link to a blog they read, and I can't cause its private. I don't want to ask permission to every body, just so I can read their blog once. A blog is meant for people to read. Which is why I have now added -private, after some names on my blog list so that people will know not to try and link to those blogs. I'd encourage others to do the same. Let us know so we don't waste our time trying. Its easy to add it after the name. Similar to Stacey, who has let us know that one of her blogs is a german blog. I'm not gonna spend time checking it cause I know I won't read it. Its helful.
Also, if someone has erased their blog, please erase their name off your blog list.

Thanks :-)

Developing

I didn't like digital cameras when they first came out and I refused to get one. Why? I knew that if I had one, I wouldn't develop pictures. With a film camera, you have no choice. If you want to see the pics, you have to develop them. I'd been doing pretty good until recently. Yesterday, I finally went through and editied pictures back from April. Yup, its August. I am 4 months behind. I did develop Cadens 1 year pictures and his birthday party, but nothing before or after that. So now, I have 152 pictures I need developed. I suppose the good side of this is that Wal-mart usually has a deal if you get more than 100 pics done. Its usually 0.14. However, it almost seems a waste to get them at this point cause who's gonna look at them.
Oh well, I'll do it anyway, cause there sure are some cute ones. I gotta make a mental note to be more consistant with that.
On the flip side, I do love my digital cause I can take 100's of pics and not worry, which I do. I average about 250 pics a month of pretty much just caden. Also, the chances of getting a good shot are very good cause I take so many. Just click over and over and over.
Anyway, off to Wal-mart and then grocery shopping. We have a potluck supper with our group of friends tonight. I'll try and get some pics posted of that next week.

Help wanted/No T.V

Caden goes to a baby sitter 2 times a week, on the days that I work. However, his babysitter is pregnant, and due for Oct. 8. She told me today that she will continue taking Caden until the end of September. Which means I will be needing someone new after that. Does anyone know anybody who runs a small in home daycare, or someone who has kids, and would want 1 more twice a week? I don't want someone with no kids and preferably kids close to Cadens age. Yeah, I know I'm picky, but I have it so good with Teresa. Her son Brayden is 1 1/2 months older than Caden. Those boys play so well together and have become good little buddies. If I'm having Caden in day care, I want him to interact with a few other kids his age.

I also do not allow Caden to watch t.v., which is uncommon apparently. I have been asked, by several different people, what cartoons Caden likes to watch. Seriously??? He's 1!!! He does not now, nor will he for years to come, watch t.v. Come on. He plays outside, and with toys, and with pots and pans and toilet paper rolls, and he looks at books...etc. Why would I stick him in front of a t.v.?? It's important to me that he has an imagination, and kids who watch t.v all the time, lack that.

Anyway, back to the day care. I'd appreciate any feedback for options. Its a difficult thing trying to find a babysitter for your child. Hopefully someone will know of a good place so I can feel comfortable leaving my boy.

Dollarama = Danger

Oh boy do I love this store. I can't wait for Caden to be older so that I can buy stickers, and paintable puzzles, and finger paints and coloring books etc. I've also seen mothers in with their kids after, for example, passing swimming lessons. The mother says, 'you can pick any 2 things you want'. Kid replies, 'Anything???'. Mom 'Anything!!'
Its gonna cost her 2 bucks, no matter what her kids pick. How awesome. And the kid is so excited to be able to pick from a whole store full of goodies. He doesn't know why, he doesn't care either. What a great reward to use for kids.
I went to Dollarama yesterday, to buy hair clips for my hair. Thats all. I should have left, having spent $1.12. But did I??? Oh no. I had spent $8.86. I bought batteries, a bbq lighter, a book for Caden, a mini megnadoodle for Caden, a bucket to stick on the wall in my bathtub for shampoo and stuff, and a nail file. Oh and of course the hair clips I came in for in the first place. I just can't help myself. Its that mennonite in me that comes out when I know something is only $1. Granted, I needed batteries and a lighter, but the other stuff were just extras. Good thing I don't go very often.

New for this week

Caden can now point out his nose and eyes, on himself or on someone else. Add this to pulling up his shirt to show his tummy.
It we ask him, 'Caden what does a train do', he raises his arm beside him and pulls it down twice while we say 'woo woo'. (like a train)
Oh and he can say Hi, Hot, This, Bapa (grandpa) and makes the uh uh sound for no. (not sure I like that one ;-))So cute. Now, what else can I teach him. He learns things so fast. A little bag of tricks this boy is.

Pet Peeve #2

Dog crap, in my yard, when I don't have a dog. There's really not much more to say than that. The joys of living in the country, where certain people don't keep their dogs at home. What makes it especially gross is that they are huge dogs. I think you know what I mean. GRRRR!!!!!

Harvest Festival

My little engineer. He loves trains.
If only this slide were longer.
Caden made a little 'woo' sound after every little bump. Big smiles the whole way down
The horse and buggy. So much fun to ring the bells
The lady bugs. Like a mini roller coaster. He loved it.

Looking out from the ferris wheel. No fear of heights at all.
Admiring a chicken in the petting zoo
A tractor tricycle by the kids play area. He was so mad when I took him off.
Down the slide with Uncle Rick
My handsome man all by himself on the train

Mmm, curly fries with Grandpa
Sliding with Auntie Amy
Going down the slide with Grandpa. Looks like Grandpa is having just as much fun as Caden
The airplane was a huge hit. He loved being up high and having to look down at us

It was a great weekend. Very different with a one year old. But so much fun. Caden absolutely loved all of the rides. I think he went on more than 20 rides, and probably would have done more. I'm pretty sure I could have taken him on adult rides and he would have done fine. But I sure wouldn't have been. I unfortunately get sick on rides.

We did also take in the parade on Saturday morning. Very disappointing I must say. What happened to having floats in a parade. All we saw were people slapping their name onto a vehicle. Although, I have to say the candy was exceptional this year. We got alot.

Then there were the fire works Sunday night. Also left something to be desired. We did manage to keep Caden up till then, thanks to a late nap until 7:00. At first he was terrified, but then he was totally mesmerized by them. As far as I'm concerned, fire works are a waste of money. But if your gonna do them, do them good.

Anyway, thats just a little recap of our weekend. Enjoy the pics.
