Any advice?

So now that summer is here, Cadens eczema is back again. We've been lotioning up to 3 times a day. I've put stuff in his bath water. Its not helping. Does anyone have any good remedies for this? We have his 2 year appt today, but I know the doctor is just gonna prescribe hydrocortizone cream and I'm not a big fan of using a steroid on my baby. I know about switching to natural detergents and soaps. Any other ideas?

What type of lotion are you using? I really highly recommend the eczema care stuff from Rocky Mountain Soap Co. The body butter is so awesome.

But really, keeping him dry and sweat-free will help more than anything. When I get too hot, my eczema flares like crazy.

100% cotton clothing is the best thing for eczema too.

Kenna has a problem with eczema by her mouth and also on her elbow. We have been impressed with a rub-on lotion from Nature's Sunshine called Pau D'Arco. It took away the eczema on her elbow. Just a thought. We bought it at The Health Habit in the mall. It is also great at healing sores and such (like Jolee's wart on her foot). I hope you find something that works for your little guy! No fun!

My kids had issues with Eczema this past winter...and my mom has had eczema forever - until she started using coconut oil!! Just rub coconut oil into it as often as you can...the more the better...and mix a little bit (about 1 tbsp per day for a kid Caden's age) into his food and this seemed to really help my kids...so that's my idea. :)

Oh, just remembered something else we were told would work as well - Tea Tree Oil... can't say if it is effective but I thought I'd put it out there.

Just be careful with the tea tree oil. I tried it, and developed a sensitivity to it. That just made my eczema worse! Plus it's a very strong essential oil and really should be diluted with another oil before applying to the skin.
