Holiday???

Rob, Caden and I took off Saturday morning for Winnipeg. We decided to go to a hotel for part of the weekend, which is something we used to do quite often. We got in some shopping, mostly for Rob, had a great supper at the Old Spaghetti Factory, one of my favorites, and went swimming. Rob bought a new cologne, The Man, by Dolce and Gabbana. Its the one that Matthew McConaughey promotes....Mmmmm yummy. Now he smells yummy again.

Sunday night we had a few of our friends over for a fire, including Pam and Conrad and there new little baby Peyton. What a little sweetheart.

The misquitoes have become INSANE!!!! What is going on. I can't even believe that on Wednesday we had a fire for girls night, and there were no bugs. What happened in 4 days.

Today I weeded, tilled and hoe'd my entire garden. It looks so good now. Green where its supposed to be green, and black where its supposed to be black. I'm so proud.

Working Wednesday and Thursday this week. Will be back to post at the end of the week.

Welcome Peyton Elizabeth Rempel

She's finally here. 10 days late, we finally got to meet this precious little girl. And what a beauty she is. Born June 24th, at 8:33am. 7lbs 11oz and 21 1/2'' long. Lots of black hair. She is a little doll. Congrats to Pam and Conrad.

Church Picnic/Fathers Day

Yesterday was our church picnic. What a beautiful day it was. There were relay races for the little kids, a married vs. unmarried baseball game, and soccer for the little kids. The meal was great, the fellowship was great.

I was able to have a quick nap in the afternoon. Caden getting up between 5:30 and 6:00 is really wearing me out. An hour nap sure helped me out. I just wish I knew what to do to make him sleep longer. I've tried putting him to bed late, that doesn't help, feeding him right before bed...that doesn't help. I'm out of ideas. Guess I'll just have to start going to bed at 8:00 when he does.

For supper, my family came over. We didn't get to do fathers day last week cause we were all gone. We bbq'd sausage and burgers, had salads, chips and watermelon. Mmmm. We also ended up having a fire later on and roasted hot dogs and had s'mores. My favorite. Its nice to be able to spend time with my family. I'm so thankful that we all live close and can see each other whenever we want. It's very important to me that Caden gets to know and be close with his Grandma and Grandpa and Uncles and Auntie.

...and its summer

Finally....Finally we have summer. And boy have we been enjoying it. I hauled out 2 water toys; a pool and a slide that I purchased for cheap at the end of last year. Caden had a great time in the pool. The slide I have to help him with. Caden and Maddy played outside for about an hour. I did also have to cater 3 days this week, so that was a slight damper in the good weather. But we enjoyed as much as we could. Looking forward to more days like this.

Church Camping

This past weekend, Caden and I headed out to Cavalier for church camping. Rob was gone fishing with my Dad and brothers, so we headed out ourselves. It was a great weekend. The weather mostly co-operated with us. Saturday was hot, although really windy. We did make it out to the beach, though we almost got blown away. Well Caden did anyway. ;-) We had a big potluck supper on Saturday with everyone who was camping. Close to 100 people. Sunday morning I woke up at 6:30 (thanks Caden) to rain. I sure do hate packing up from camping when its raining. But, by 10:00 the rain had stopped, and we were able to have our church service. Very thankful for that. I really enjoyed the weekend. Hanging out and getting to know people from church was great. I'm already looking forward to next year.

Relaxing in his lawn chair.

He loved the beach

What a difference a year makes.

Hanging clothes on the line last year. Small sleepers and onesies.

Clothes this year. Jeans and t-shirts. He's growing up.

One year!!

I know I'm a little behind, but I can't post pics on my blog from home cause of my stupid dial up. So I do it when I'm at my moms house. Here are a few of my favorite pics that we took at Greenvalley, as well as the Winkler park. I am so happy with how they turned out. Who needs to pay Newbees to do pictures when you can do them yourself. (yes, I'm cheap) Plus its fun to discover new places to take pictures. I already know where I'm going to take his 18 month pictures. :-)

Let it Shine!!!

I am so thankful for the last 4 days. It has been so beautiful outside. My weekend was great because of it. Saturday I re-planted my tomatos and peppers because the first ones had frost. In the afternoon, my friend Jen and her son Andrew came over. The boys played and we visitied. It's nice to catch up. Jen and I were great friends during grade 7 and 8, but then drifted apart after that. Its been so great to get our friendship going again.
I also went to see the Sex and the City movie with Sarah. It was a pretty good movie. Having watched maybe 10 episodes ever of the show, I was a little sceptical as to whether or not I would understand things. But they did a nice little recap at the beginning of the movie.
When I got home, Rob told me that he had invited a bunch of people over for a fire. It was a beautiful evening. Perfect for a fire.
Sunday our church held the annual backyard fires. We had a choice of 4 houses to go to for a fire. We went to Steve and Melissa Friesens house. They live 3 miles from us so it was the obvious choice...;-). It was a great evening. A mixture of young, middle and older people. There was even a 93 year old man. Way to go Mr. Groening.

On Monday, I went to town in the morning. I had an appointment at Twice as Nice. Thanks to Shar for telling me about it. I always bring my clothes right to MCC when I don't want them anymore. She told me to bring clothes to Twice as Nice instead. That way you can get money for them if they sell. What a good idea. As many clothes as I buy, it'll be nice to get a little money from the clothes that I don't want anymore, because most often they have not been warn very often. In the afternoon, my mom came over to help me edge the flower bed around my house. We lay bricks around the whole thing. Wow does it ever look nice. What a difference. Now it'll be easier for Rob to mow there as well. Shoulda done this way sooner.

I've also gotten into the Bachelorette this season. The 3rd episode was yesterday. If anyone watches it, let me know who your favorite is at the moment. I'm rooting for Jason.

Anyway, this afternoon I'm off to Roland to do a birthday party for my cousin Raina. She is 8 today. I've got all kinds of games planned, as well we will be making bracelets. Should be a good time.
